Impact of Photovoltaic Penetration on Medium Voltage Distribution Network

Nowadays, large-scale solar penetration into the grid and intermittent nature of PV systems are affecting operation distribution networks. This paper aims to investigate effect on a typical medium-voltage network in Malaysia. The main objectives this study voltage stability, power loss, short circuit under two conditions: peak load no load. is evaluated using methods: static dynamic analysis, utilizing Digsilent Power Factory software. comprises 33/11 kV parallel transformers connected 11 busbar consists 13 feeders 38 loads. 500 kW per node added, maximum potential that acceptable connect evaluated. findings indicate during conditions, some nodes experience violations, but by increasing penetration, lower violations move up range. highest loss 191 kW, occurring conditions at 0% level. On other hand, simulations were carried out with specific time characteristics, results compared different levels. simulation show contingency there load, for was determined be 2MW. It observed 27, 28, 29 violate limits even 100% penetrations.
